Highlights of the Job
EPCOR Water Services is hiring one temporary Engineer, Development and Infill (up to 18 months). This role provides technical expertise and engineering leadership supporting water distribution, stormwater management, and wastewater collection infrastructure across Canada and the U.S.
As a key member of the team, you will help ensure EPCOR’s design standards, development reviews, and infrastructure planning align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and corporate objectives.
You will contribute to land development application reviews, support construction activities, and provide engineering insight that helps maintain the safe, reliable operation of our systems.
What You’d Be Responsible For
- Supporting EPCOR’s Development and Infill plans and strategies.
- Contributing to process improvements that enhance service levels and ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing timelines, design quality, and permit submissions for:
- Land development applications
- Greenfield subdivision designs
- Water and sewer servicing plans
- Development applications across multiple jurisdictions (City of Edmonton, U.S. regions such as Arizona)
- Providing input into the update of design standards and engineering guidelines.
- Supporting project teams with technical guidance during planning, design, and construction phases.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Providing real-time construction support to managers, engineers, contractors, and field inspectors.
- Identifying and harmonizing best practices across EPCOR’s operating areas.
What’s Required to Be Successful
Education & Certification
- Completion of an Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
- Eligibility for Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Arizona is an asset.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in the design or construction of water distribution, stormwater, or wastewater collection systems.
- Strong technical knowledge related to water and/or wastewater systems.
Assets
- Familiarity with hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and urban planning best practices.
- Experience using GIS or business intelligence tools.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a strong commitment to safety and sustainability.
